For many years the Lake District has been regarded as a premier holiday destination in the UK, but in recent years it has become so expensive to holiday abroad that more and more British citizens are discovering the beauty of the Lakes. A particular highlight of the area is Keswick, a market town in the Northern Lakes dating back to 1276. This delightfully pretty market town is ideally placed to discover all that the Northern Lakes have to offer, and the town itself is a labyrinth of discoveries itself.Keswick is just a stone’s throw away from Derwentwater, and you will also find the fascinating ancient Stone Circle of Castlerigg a small walk away. The town is beautifully looked after and has in fact won several awards over the years. You will find the spectacular Skiddaw and Lonscale Fells very close by and these offer a truly challenging hike for anyone who likes to get out into the great outdoors.

Keswick is a great location to discover the rest of the lakes. Despite being in the Northern part of the lakes, roads are good within the Lakes, and you will never have too far to travel within the region.

For anyone heading up to the Lake District on holiday, Keswick can be the perfect base. There are many Keswick Cottages available to rent, which is a lovely way to holiday. Prices are certainly reasonable and you won’t find a more idyllic place for your family holiday.
