You would think that finding a restaurant in London would be easy, but the simple fact is that with such an overwhelming choice, it is very hard to pare down your choice to a venue that you can trust. Of course, there are many guides that you can pick up which can recommend great places to eat, but sometimes it is nice to find a place on your own and then you can enjoy your meal knowing that you sniffed this place out all by yourself!
If you are staying in London then the chances are that you will want to control the area in which you are looking for somewhere to eat. Head out in the day time in your local area and start to track places down. I always look out for local places where you need to book. If they don’t need to take reservations then you can guarantee that there are spare places in their Restaurant at night. There can only be one reason for this: the food is overpriced, or it is just not that good.
The second thing to look out for is fresh ingredients and regularly changed specials boards. If you have time you should take a walk past the restaurant on two separate days to see if the menu changes. If it does, there is a good chance that the produce is very fresh.
Perhaps surprisingly, a lot of cheap hotels in London serve great food. This perhaps could be because it is a good way to increase their revenue. You should make sure you check out the menu at your hotel before you even set foot out of the door!
