The most incredible island of the Greek Islands has got to be Santorini. It offers everything from culture and history to the more modern and chic hotels and shopping areas. The majority of photographs taken for Greece, for example holiday brochures and postcards, are mainly taken from Santorini. The typical Greek picture postcard is world renowned for being the blue domed churches and has been sent all over the world.

The main reason for travelling to Santorini would be the famous sunsets you can discover. The town of Fira, or Thira, in Santorini, is said to be the prettiest place in the world according to many people. It is located on the edge of cliff which is in fact the rim of the crater of the live volcano and is also the capital of Santorini. You will discover incredible views for the town of Fira such as the amazing spectacular of the Aegean Sea scattered with the smaller volcanic islands.

Just lying at the bottom of the crater is an amazing lagoon where the active volcano lays. The lagoon’s bottom is said to reach up to four hundred metres in depth. No body has ever touched the lagoon bottom making a lot of people believe that this is the place where the ancient lost city of Atlantis is hidden away.
