I love getting free promotional items. When my company sent me and a few colleagues to one the other week, we actually decided to have a competition between us to see which of us could get the most of them, which started out as a lot of fun. It became increasingly hard to do this because I felt like people started to guess what I was doing and these things are not always available to just take but you have to have a long conversation with the stall holder first and feign some sort of genuine interest in their products. I also had to try to gather some information for my company as I did need to prove that I didn’t just spend the day at home, when I got back to the office. In the end I managed to get five promotional USB pens, four pencils, several mouse mats, a bookmark, three sticky bugs, two pens, a cap, two stress balls, several fabric bags, a selection of sweets and enough business cards and leaflets to fill my recycling box twice over! I did not win the contest, I guess I was just forward enough and quick enough but it was fun taking part.
